Description: Originating in the Middle East, the Frankincense tree is small with abundant pinnacle leaves and white or pale pink flowers. The resin from the tree begins as a milky-white sticky liquid that flows from the trunk of the tree when it’s cut, healing the abrasion. The resin is then distilled to create Frankincense essential oil. History: For over 5,000 years, incense has been used for trading, particularly in ancient Egypt. It is also considered to be a holy oil, and was once used in the Talmud. Eventually, Frankincense was brought over to Europe by Frankish Crusaders. Even today, Frankincense is still considered to be a holy oil and is often used in religious ceremonies and during meditation. Currently, it is being used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of considerable research.
